Community
We believe people are better together. We aim to support local residents throughout their life, from birth to old age, by providing a safe, friendly place to meet each other.
Come and see us at our welcoming community centre on the Percy estate near the Chantry shops or our community room on the Packmores estate on Lyttleton Road.
The Gap multi-use community centre offers a wide range of social activities and services for free or low cost for local people. These include youth clubs, over 55's social groups, a community café, room hire, exercise classes, hobby groups, toddler groups, support groups and more!
We also link with service providers, local venues and businesses, faith groups, volunteers, council workers, charities and not for profit groups to signpost people to activities and services, which aim to enhance overall quality of life.
Our work is underpinned by three main community aims:
REACH
CONNECT
IMPACT
Community Outreach
We provide outreach work for hard-to-reach residents on the Packmores estate with project funding from Warwick District Council. This includes:
Packmores Pantry - Working as a community to reduce food waste, staff and volunteers collect surplus sell-by date food from local supermarkets and we welcome residents to collect it and share it for free from Packmores community room and The Gap community centre.
Packmores Pantry sessions at The Gap - cooking workshops to equip families with valuable life skills, improve their confidence and knowledge of cooking techniques and enable them to improve their practical cooking skills. The emphasis is upon healthy eating and the benefits of eating a range of dishes, cooked from fresh ingredients, and avoiding the use of salty, sugary processed products.
Men’s Shed – A friendly group led by men of all ages to provide support and practical activities. The group welcomes Warwick residents experiencing social isolation, bereavement, low level mental health and anxiety. This is part of the national Men’s Shed initiative, prioritising residents of CV34, improving mental health through befriending, building positive relationships and providing a safe space to talk whilst working on fun, practical projects together.
